Piano

Mark began piano lessons between second and third grade, where his teacher introduced him to classical, ragtime, and boogie-woogie styles.

As a freshman in high school in 1984, he won first place for his age division in the first annual Rosebud Ragtime Piano Competition. The prize was 50 bucks and a spot to play on the Goldenrod Showboat on the Mississippi River, where he played "Cascade Rag" by Robert Hampton.

Music has since been a constant in Mark's life, with performances around St. Louis, Missouri in the Mark Pedigo Trio, The Dixie Rhythm Kings, and various other combos and big bands. After a hiatus, he rekindled his passion for music during the pandemic. After moving to Minneapolis in May 2022, Mark explored the local big band scene, including the Westwind Swing Band and the Minnetonka Jazz Band to find both a musical outlet and some fun.

Outside of music, Mark works as a Data Scientist, teaches math and programming, and enjoys Minnesota’s great outdoors with his wife, Mandy, and his dog, Harley Dog.
